國民黨總統選情低迷，總統府資政金溥聰在背後操盤風聲始終不斷，逼得金溥親上火線，強調絕未插手選舉。但外傳金溥聰曾與國民黨總統參選人洪秀柱主動聯繫，希望能挽救選情，但洪秀柱卻認為金溥聰多慮了，也因此至今未再過問大選情況。

外傳，金溥聰5月時，眼見藍營氣勢不佳，在國民黨黨內初選領表結束後，曾主動向洪秀柱詢問，是否需要任何建言或協助，不料洪秀柱卻直接向金溥聰表示，自表態參選以來，各方支持者非常踴躍，認為金溥聰多慮了。

而洪秀柱的態度，讓金溥聰覺得洪並不會接受他的任何意見，因此至此未與國民黨內高層，以及洪秀柱聯繫，包括討論大選選情。

對此，金溥聰表示，他卸下公職以來，從來沒有插手選舉，絕無向洪秀柱獻策，希望媒體不要刻意渲染，誤導社會視聽。
